What does it protect?
The plate shields the motor, controller and phase wires from rocks, logs and hard impacts. The two front bash plates give a tight fit around an OEM or aftermarket controller, keeping the phase wires covered against sticks and rocks, and ventilation slats keep the motor cool while maintaining full protection. The rigid plate does not flex like plastic options, which can still contact the motor and break motor mounts or housings. It was tested at the TKO Hard Enduro.
Why aluminum instead of plastic?
The bash plate angles are optimized to reduce slide resistance on rocks and logs, and aluminum slides significantly more easily than plastic because objects do not embed on impact. When the 10 mm bash plate does take a hard hit it is a separate, replaceable part that swaps in minutes.
How do I install it?
You need a 6 mm Allen wrench, a T20 Torx bit, a torque wrench and medium-strength (blue) thread locker. Apply thread locker to all hardware. Torque the M8×20 side-rail screws to 16 to 18 Nm (12 to 13 ft·lb) and the M4×10 Torx plate screws to 2.6 Nm (1.9 ft·lb / 23 in-lb). Fit top plate "4" on a Pro-SS 3.0, Pro-SR or a bike with an aftermarket controller, and top plate "4+" with the OEM E Ride 1.0 / 2.0 controller.
