Why is it called the Painless ignition cover?
Because the OEM cover is a pain to get off: you literally have to remove the battery lid to reach it. Heavy Hitter redesigned the fit so this cover comes off without removing anything else on the bike, which gets you into the electrical compartment quickly to service, update or swap a part. That saves time at the track, in the woods and in the garage by removing the battery lid dependency.
What does the redesigned cable exit do?
The cable exit was redesigned with a larger, chamfered opening. Handlebar control wiring routes cleanly between the frame and the cover instead of being pinched, and the smooth chamfer prevents wire damage over time. It is the kind of small mod that pays for itself the first time you open the compartment.
How do I install the billet ignition cover?
Remove the OEM cover and bolt the Heavy Hitter cover on with the two included M6x16 stainless steel socket head screws, using a 5 mm Allen wrench and a torque wrench. Torque both screws to 7 to 8 Nm (5 to 6 ft·lb) with medium-strength thread locker on the threads. The exploded view is on the assembly guide (PDF).
