Why choose the Nomad over a full-coverage plate?
The Nomad trades mass for airflow. It shields the motor from rocks, sticks and trail debris while leaving the case open to cooling air, and the whole kit weighs 1.56 lb with its bolts. Bash plate angles are cut to keep forward momentum over obstacles and eliminate hang-ups, the plate edges overlap to stiffen the assembly, and the lowest plate carries an extra cross-support to take lateral loads without bending.
